He had forgotten how clear and present a woman could be, and she had forgotten how majestic was the quiet of the night. They had forgotten the world was so truly and beautifully and really the world. They had forgotten food could taste this good. Then they knew. Falling in love had been an act of la reverdie, the celebration of the becoming clear of the world in the night.
