Epidemics are not new. Nor the exception, they’re the rule. In 1888, the jaundiced skeleton who walked through Jax an archetype of death and disease, the newspapers called “Yellow Jack.” Political battles ensued. Jacksonville, with Yellow Fever rampant, locked down under “Shotgun Quarantine.” All these years later, this new pandemic, nobody’s firing cannons in the streets. Not yet, at least.
