Cool Moose, Park and King

by Tim Gilmore, 6/20/2012

Red brick walls inside, iron chairs and tables outside on the sidewalk. A Reuben sandwich, a mug of black, black coffee. The sun’s up high, spring glimpsed on its way through the still cool day. On the back of a menu, Jorge writes, “Friendship

and happiness, kindness and beauty—these things defy monopoly. My love, there will always have been these things in the summers of our late teenage years, and they remain rooted in the deep archaeology of our ongoing present moment. If there could be a universal, it might be the springtime. Earth come round the sun another year, and here you are, love of my life, my kind and beautiful friend.”
