From somewhere out here, the bones came. A skull, longbones, pieces of casket, then the headstone. Young Northsiders call all this land “Polly Town,” but how each of these lost communities connected remains mysterious. Somehow, the Black veterans’ grave connects to the mill quarters, to Pollywood, to the people enslaved here two centuries ago.
